    Orderville, Glendale, Mt. Carmel Junction, Mt. Carmel, and Alton


    Orderville - This quaint little town’s backdrop is some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll find anywhere in Southern Utah. Nestled at the base of beautiful white and pink cliffs, this town offers you a step back into a time less hectic and allows you to slow down and enjoy life. You’ll find friendly people who are happy to just sit and visit a spell and tell you the colorful history surrounding Orderville. Rock Hounds will love the 3 rock shops that have made Orderville their home. A Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum is located in Orderville and you may tour by appointment. (435)648-2290

    Orderville is within minutes of some of Utah’s most scenic National Parks such as Zion Canyon, a mere 20 miles away, Bryce Canyon only 56 miles, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon 99 miles. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the official name for Lake Powell, is only 94 miles away.

    Glendale - This beautiful town is set in the northern portion of Long Valley and sits at the mouth of Glendale Canyon. A very quiet town with beautiful scenery in every direction. The brilliant Fall colors that envelope this town, and continues up Glendale Canyon, will take your breath away. Each turn you make, more breathtaking scenery, and the colors intensify, seeming to almost be fluorescent. It is also home to the annual Apple Festival held every September.

    Glendale is within minutes of some of Utah’s most scenic National Parks such as Zion Canyon, a mere 23 miles away, Bryce Canyon only 53 miles, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon 102 miles. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the official name for Lake Powell, is only 97 miles away.

    Mt. Carmel Junction & East Zion- Mt. Carmel Junction is a shining little town, located at the junction of Highways 89 and 9, and is truly the gateway to the east entrance of Zion National Park. You will find a beautiful golf course, where the local wildlife, mostly deer, often come to feed in the evenings. After spending a magnificent day in Zion National Park you may want to spend an extra day here and take in a round of golf and soak up the sun and scenery and just relax before moving on to your next destination.

Carmel Junction is within minutes of some of Utah’s most scenic National Parks such as Zion Canyon, a mere 24 miles away, Bryce Canyon only 60 miles, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon 102 miles.     Mt. Carmel - This quiet little town is home to "The Old Rock Church." A beautiful stone building that was initially built in 1890, but burned, in part, in 1919 and then was rebuilt in 1923. This building has considerable local historical significance, being the only remaining public building in the little town. You can stop in, May - September, and receive visitor information on the surrounding area. Green fields of alfalfa are the town’s "backyard," and they appear to dance with even the smallest breeze, and seem to be inviting you to run through them, barefoot, leaving your cares behind!

    Because of it’s amazing vistas and serenity, Mt. Carmel became the summer home and studio of the famed Western Artist Maynard Dixon. Tours are available May - October by appointment only. (435)648-2653

    Alton - Alton is an enchanting town with horses and livestock grazing in nearby fields. Just a short distance off of Highway 89, to the east, fresh air and wide-open spaces are what is offered when you visit this beautiful town. The people that live in Alton are friendly and proud of their little town. Most of the residents of Alton work outside of the community or manage livestock. You can visit nearby Stout Canyon, accessible by a good gravel road that connects Highway 89 with S.R. 14 on Cedar Mountain. Always remember to check current road and weather conditions before taking any dirt or gravel roads.

    Alton is within minutes of some of Utah’s most scenic National Parks such as Zion Canyon, a mere 42 miles away, Bryce Canyon only 42 miles, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon 113 miles. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the official name for Lake Powell, is only 108 miles away.
