    The Lake Powell Area offers much to visitors while they explore the beauty of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, also known as Lake Powell.     Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
     (NRA) 

    Lake Powell Utah and Lake Powell Arizona  offers unparalleled opportunities for water-based and backcountry recreation. The recreation area stretches hundreds of miles from Lees Ferry in Arizona to the Orange Cliffs of southern Utah, encompassing scenic vistas, geologic wonders, and a panorama of human history in Lake Powell Utah and Arizona. The scenery is almost indescribable with towering rock formations rising majestically straight up out of the water. It is the second largest man-made lake in the United States and is 187 miles long with 96 major side canyons and a coast line of approximately 1,960 miles-more than the west coast of the U.S. from Seattle to San Diego. The Lake holds approximately 8.5 trillion gallons of water and the summertime and water temperatures approach 80 degrees.

    Lake Powell is home to many game fish such as Western Pike, Large and Small Mouth Bass, Catfish and Bluegill. Fishing Boats and gear, as well as maps, licenses, bait, and tips are available in Big Water, Utah!

    Lake Powell is located in the heart of The Grand Circle, so named because of the concentration of our Country's most fantastic National Parks and Monuments, ie., Grand Canyon National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Arches National Park,, Canyonlands National Park,, Canyon de Chelly National Park,, Capital Reef National Park,, Grand Staircase Escalante National MonumentMonument Valley..

    Rainbow Bridge National Monument is located approximately 50 miles up-lake from Glen Canyon Dam in Forbidding Canyon. This awesome span is the worlds largest natural bridge standing 290 feet high.

    Water Skiing on Wahweap Bay!
    Several places in Big Water, Utah can supply you with rental equipment for a skiing trip on Lake Powell, by the day, or by the week! Most places will even supply you with launch and pick-up service.

    Go Swimming at The Cove and Wahweap Beach!
    From Kanab, Wahweap Beach is about 70 miles east on Hwy 89. Turn left into Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
