Fredonia, Arizona is a small community that sits just below the city of Kanab, Utah and right near
the Utah/Arizona border. It is a junction for travelers passing through to
and from the Grand Canyon North Rim, Kanab and other areas. Limited

One of the main access roads to Arizona's Grand Canyon north rim is from Utah. Many visitors to the Grand Canyon north rim in Arizona come from travelers who are also visiting Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Lake Powell. A very small portion Lake Powell is in the state of Arizona while the vast majority lies within the state of Utah.
Some of the access roads to the north rim of the Grand Canyon begin in Utah. Much of the state of Arizona that is located above the Grand Canyon is only accessible, by land, from the state of Utah. The paved highway to Arizona's Grand Canyon north rim is scenic highway 89A and this connects with highway 89 in Utah. From Fredonia highway 89A connects to highway 67 that takes you into the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Please note that highway 67 is open from May 15 to October 15. Other non-paved roads that access the north rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona begin in either St. George, Utah or near Pipe Spring National Monument.
