Zion Ponderosa Horseback Rides

Zion National Park is one of the most popular of the Utah National Parks for horseback riding tours. It was first discovered by Native Americans who refused to enter the enchanted walls of the Park at night. Early Mormon pioneers hired Indian guides to tour them through the Zion Park on horseback. More than a century later, Zion National Park remains home to some of the most scenic horseback riding tours and trails in the Western United States.

Zion Ponderosa is located high in the pines at nearly 6,500 feet above sea level on the east plateau overlooking Zion Park. Surrounded by a forest of ponderosa pine, Zion Ponderosa was once home to a pioneer logging camp. Many of the old pioneer trails and horseback riding roads remain and provide guests of the horse ranch a range of horseback rides through rugged, Rocky Mountain high country.

Like other attractions at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, our Zion horseback riding tours are conducted by East Zion Adventures. Our horses are chosen and trained to match the wide variety of guests that visit the resort. It is important to let your wrangler know about your past riding experience so he can team you up with the best horse possible. Our horses are young enough to enjoy the ride, strong enough to make the climbs, and obedient for safety reasons.

Horseback Riding – Zion National Park Kids Horseback Rides – Children under eight years old are too young for the regular horserides but they will love our horseback rides that are led by wranglers and are very safe. Each kids horseback ride lasts about 15 minutes.

Wagon Rides are available for those who would rather enjoy this type of guided western experience. These rides can be separate of our Dutch Oven Dinner experience and can be enjoyed by children and adults. Call for details on availability and minimum number of participants.
