Are you a history buff? Do you wish to learn more about the Native American Peoples of the southwest? The Thunderbird Foundation, located in Mt. Carmel Utah will have an exhibit showcasing the life of local Native American Tribes during 1872-1875. This exhibit will be open to the general public starting March 15, 2018 and will continue to be shown until November 15, 2018. If you're traveling in the area, or are a local, this is one amazing collection of photos you don't want to miss. These photos were a key part in helping the well known explorer John Wesley Powell obtain funding from Congress for more trips to the southwestern region of the United States. John Wesley Powell explored and mapped the Kanab and Grand Canyon regions, one of the last mapped areas in the lower 48. Stop into the Thunderbird Foundation to view this incredible collection of historic photos taken by Jack Hillers, a member of Powell's exploration team. A collection this large is hard to find anywhere else. Check out this great article for more information. Be sure to visit The Thunderbird Foundation | Maynard Dixon Home, Fine Art Gallery, Utah as well for more information about their other beautiful art exhibits, how to take a tour of the Maynard Dixon home and much more.
