Pioneer Day Parade
Watermelon & Games
Pioneer Day commemorates the entry of Brigham Young and the first group of Mormon Pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley where they settled after being forced out of othe eastern states. The Mormon Pioneers settled many communities in the Western United States. In Utah, Pioneer Day (the 24th of July) is an official state holiday and is considered a special day among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
This year the Bi-Stake event, Kaibab and Kanab Stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, have decided the theme will be "Celebrating Our Local Pioneer Heroes." We hope to honor those in our community who are our true Pioneer Heroes - those men and women who are our firemen, policemen, business people, civic leaders, doctors, lawyers, city officials, etc. who have worked their whole lives to have this community be a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
All other churches and organizations in the community are welcome to participate.
The Parade will be on Center Street (usually from State Bank of Southern Utah to Parry's Lodge)
The watermelon and games will be at the Jacob Hamblin Park (City Park) 500 N. 100 E. Kanab
