“We have a phenomenal line up of speakers and this is one summit not to miss,” said Kelly Stowell, Executive Director for the Center for Education, Business, and the Arts, one of the event organizers.
A variety of topics will be covered relating to the state of economy, technology, marketing, area developments, and business trends at local, state and national levels. Vicki Varela, Utah Office of Tourism Director will join a pallet of experts making presentations on topics including Kane County economy, tourism, marketing, technology, local business resources, and superb networking opportunities throughout the day. Lunch will be provided by Chef Shon Foster, and his staff from Sego, and will precede keynote speaker Jared Hess, at noon.
“We are especially happy to host and provide Jared Hess with an excuse to visit us in Kanab, which he told me is his second most favorite places on the planet, right behind Preston, Idaho,” said Stowell.
Jared attended Brigham Young University in Provo, where he met his wife, Jerusha, his screenwriting partner and directed his first comedy “Napoleon Dynamite.” After the film’s breakout success at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, he co-wrote and directed “Nacho Libre” starring Jack Black and “Gentlemen Broncos,” starring Sam Rockwell and Jemaine Clement. His latest film, “Don Verdean,” also starring Sam Rockwell and Jemaine Clement was shot locally in Kanab, and was released in December 2015. His next project, “Masterminds,” starring Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson will be released later this year. Jared has also directed various commercials and music videos including The Postal Service’s “We Will Become Silhouettes “and The Killers’ fifth annual Christmas Charity single, “Boots.”
The summit offers an outstanding opportunity to help your business grow and is a chance to get inspired by the best business champions in southern Utah.
“In addition to being an unmatched value, we invite everyone to attend and learn what's going on economically in southern Utah’s Kane County,” said Kane County Commissioner, Dirk Clayson. “Chef Shon’s food is enough reason alone to attend the summit and we hope you will be able to join us.”
